Fare for Access Bus, Routed Bus, and Footferry

Kitsap Transit bus and foot ferry fares are payable with cash or with a pass or E-purse loaded onto an ORCA card. ORCA cards can be used on Kitsap Transit and six other Puget Sound Region transportation agencies.

	ACCESS & Routed Bus Fares (Effective April 1, 2009)

Passes and E-Purse can be loaded onto ORCA cards at www.orcacard.com, via the mail, by calling 1-888-988-6722, at a retail outlet or by visiting Kitsap Transit’s Customer Service Office. You must have a Regional Reduced Fare Permit ORCA card or Reduced Fare ORCA card to qualify for reduced fare. Click here for reduced fare qualifications.

Kitsap Transit sells Mason Transit passes at the Customer Service Office located in the Bremerton Transportation Center.

Reduced Fare - Any person who presents proof of any one of the following conditions can obtain a Regional Reduced Fare Permit ORCA Card. The card allows riders to purchase and load reduced fare bus passes on their ORCA card and to ride routed bus service or the foot ferry for $1.00 when paying from E-purse.

Medicare Card Holder
Senior - Age 65 or older with valid ID and completed Regional Reduced Fare Permit Application, click here to download the application.

Verification of receipt of Social Security Disability Benefits or Supplemental Security Income Benefits due to disability (Temporary)
Certification by the Veteran’s Administration at a 40% or greater disability level
Valid Medicare card issued by the Social Security Administration (Temporary)
Valid Regional ADA Paratransit Card
Valid ADA Paratransit card from outside the region (Temporary)
Persons without any of the above may still qualify if they have an obvious physical impairment and/or physician verification of disability.
Currently enrolled by a Washington State Individual Educational Program (IEP) (Temporary)

Any person who presents proof of any one of the following conditions can obtain a reduced fare ORCA Card. The card allows riders to purchase and load onto their ORCA card reduced fare bus pass and to ride routed bus service or the foot ferry for $1.00 when paying from E-purse.

Youth - Age 6 to 18
Low Income - Has Department of Social & Health Services low-income status with qualifying family size. Call 1-800-501-RIDE for more details.

Free Riders
Personal-Care Attendant - Attendant traveling with eligible disabled customer -- free of charge.

Child - Up to four (4) children, age five (5) or under, accompanied by a fare-paying, responsible individual -- free of charge.

Public Safety Officer - Any of the region's law enforcement personnel and firefighters in or out of uniform, on or off duty and inside or outside of their jurisdiction -- free of charge.

Transfer Policy

ORCA card users who pay their regular or reduced fare from E-purse are entitled to a free 2-hour transfer. ORCA transfers are good in any direction of travel at any location. Transfers are free between Kitsap Transit vehicles. When transferring to a Pierce, Metro, Community, Sound or Everett Transit vehicle within 2 hours, riders will be given credit for the fare paid, paying only the difference in fares.

Riders paying with cash can request a paper transfer. Paper transfers are valid at transfer centers & points only for the next connecting bus or foot ferry.

Special Programs/Passes
Group Payment Program (for groups who can be presumed to have a significant proportion of low income or student members) - Groups of potential riders who can arrange prepayment by any collective means, such as Olympic College Students through the Associated Student Body, or ship's crews through their Morale Welfare and Recreation Funds, can make arrangements similar to the matching program for major employers. The cost of the program will be based on 50% of the low-income fare.

VCB Special Passes - In cooperation with the Kitsap Peninsula Visitor & Convention Bureau, Kitsap Transit will offer convention or event passes which can be issued by the VCB to all participants at an event. The cost of such an issue of passes to the VCB will be based on a calculation of the expected usage at a conference or convention, at a cost per ride of $.50.
