Current road conditions and forecasts for below freezing temperatures overnight indicate that travel on Kitsap County roadways will be unsafe tomorrow morning. As a result, Kitsap Transit is implementing a Limited Route System effective with the start of service Friday, January 20, 2012. The Limited Route System is designed to connect Kitsap communities using arterial roads. The system includes limited bus service, ferry-take-homes and the Foot Ferry. Buses will operate on each of five routes during regularly scheduled bus service hours, plus limited service in the northend, to the Southworth Ferry and in Port Orchard. This level of service will allow us to operate safely and concentrate our resources on providing reliable departures from each of the primary transfer centers. Buses should depart from the transfer centers or park and ride lots at their current times.
The system includes ONLY the Foot Ferry and the limited bus service. Limited routes will operate by current service hours with multiple buses. Departure and arrival times from transfer centers and park & rides will depend on conditions.
