Update - Annapolis Ferry Dock Closure
Route 81 & Local Foot Ferries - Service Disruption

Construction extended through April 30, 2020

The Annapolis Ferry Dock closure has been extended to the end of April 2020 due to construction delays. In compliance with all environmental permit restrictions and allowable work windows, all of the piles have been driven, the beach cleanup has been performed and demolition work has been substantially completed. The contractor has temporarily removed their floating equipment from the site until the new float being constructed off-site is delivered. Delivery and installation of the float is planned for early April. The new dock is anticipated to be completed and in full service by the end of April 2020 but is subject to possible delays due to unforeseen circumstances.

During this service disruption, Kitsap Transit will continue to operate the 120-passenger Admiral Pete and the 150-passenger Waterman between Port Orchard and Bremerton during commute hours. The Annapolis Foot Ferry service will be suspended during the Annapolis Dock closure. The Port Orchard Ferry will operate every 15 minutes during commute hours from the Bremerton and Port Orchard Docks.

Multiple options are available during the Annapolis dock closure:

  • Route 81 Express trips that originate at the Port Orchard Armory Park & Ride will serve the Annapolis P&R and continue on to the Port Orchard Ferry Dock. All current stops will depart five minutes earlier in the AM and will depart the Port Orchard Ferry every 15 minutes in the PM.
  • Route 81 Regular (AM) will serve the First Lutheran Church along Mitchell to Bay Street and on to the Port Orchard Ferry Dock similar to Route 8.
  • Route 9 stops near the Annapolis Park & Ride on Bay Street and will go directly to/from the Port Orchard Ferry.
  • Larger buses will be used on Routes 8 and 86 to better accommodate passengers who may shift to these routes.
  • During the project the Annapolis Park & Ride will remain open. However approximately 10 parking stalls will be unavailable.
  • Port Orchard Armory Park & Ride on Mile Hill will be served by Routes 81 Express and 86 with quick connections to the Port Orchard Ferry.
  • First Lutheran Church Park & Ride is served by Routes 8 and 81 Regular (AM) with quick connections to the Port Orchard Ferry.
  • Several Worker/Driver buses operate in South Kitsap that serve the Port Orchard Armory. The Manchester Worker/Driver bus headed to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton will pick up at Annapolis Park & Ride at approximately 6:15 AM and drop off around 4:55 PM (departs PSNS at 4:09pm).

We encourage riders to contact Customer Service (1.800.501.7433) if they need assistance with making alternative trip plans during this project. We apologize for any inconvenience.
