Face Covering Required

Effective Friday, June 26

Starting on Friday, June 26, Kitsap Transit will require all customers to wear a face-covering or mask on its buses, ferries, and vans as well as at transit centers, park & ride lots, ferry terminals and all other Kitsap Transit properties.

Customers who do not have a face covering will be asked to put on a disposable mask available from dispensers on Kitsap Transit vehicles.

Kitsap Transit is following a statewide mandatory face covering order issued on June 23 by Gov. Jay Inslee and the state Secretary of Health. The order requires people to wear a face covering in indoor public spaces and outdoors where six feet of distance from others isn't possible.

According to the Health Secretary, wearing a mask is one of the most effective things people can do to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, in addition to physical distancing, frequent hand washing and staying home when sick.

Those with certain medical conditions and children under the age of five are not required to wear face coverings. In addition, individuals may remove face coverings while communicating with a person who is deaf or hard of hearing and while outdoors in public areas, provided a distance of six feet is maintained from people who are not members of their household.
