Passenger Loads on Sailings Reduced Starting Monday

Effective Monday, March 16

Starting Monday, March 16, Kitsap Transit is temporarily reducing the maximum passenger loads it will carry on each sailing to 46 passengers.

This emergency policy will apply until further notice to both our local foot ferry service as well as our fast-ferry service on the Bremerton and Kingston routes.

On the Bremerton route, passengers with reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis: The first 46 passengers with reservations in line will receive boarding passes. In other words, not all passengers with reservations in line are guaranteed a spot on the ferry. We encourage customers to see our two-boat schedule and consider other sailings.

On the Kingston route, customers who ride a Kitsap Transit bus to the ferry terminal have priority boarding.

Passenger loads are being reduced in response to Gov. Jay Inslee's statement today he will sign an emergency proclamation banning all public gatherings of 50 or more people starting tomorrow to slow the spread of COVID-19.

On Sunday, public health authorities in King County reported 32 new cases of COVID-19 and two more deaths, bringing the total count in King County to 420 confirmed cases and 37 deaths.

Also Sunday, Kitsap Public Health District announced two new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total count in Kitsap County to five confirmed cases.

Kitsap Transit is communicating regularly with public-health officials and continues to disinfect its ferries at the end of each shift daily using a cleaning agent that kills coronaviruses. Passengers should practice healthy habits to prevent the spread of respiratory disease. Visit Kitsap Public Health District's website for guidance and to sign up for COVID-19 updates.

We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary restriction may cause.
