Temporary Fare-Free Policy and Boarding Policy on Fast Ferries

Effective Monday, March 23

Starting on Monday, March 23, Kitsap Transit will stop collecting fares on all of its services until further notice as part of its efforts to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Kitsap Transit is implementing this emergency fare-free policy to minimize interactions at the farebox and protect the health of its bus operators and ferry deckhands. This temporary fare-free policy applies to all services, including Routed, ACCESS, Worker/Driver, vanpool, ferries and the Annapolis Park & Ride.

As part of our response to COVID-19, reservations on the Bremerton Fast Ferry will be temporarily suspended as well. Our fast ferries will be filled on a walk-up basis only, with capacity limited to 46 passengers. Health-care workers and first responders will receive priority boarding and must show their official identification to Kitsap Transit's representative at the dock.

Kitsap Transit bus operators can ask passengers to stay behind the yellow line at the front of the bus to maintain 6 feet of distance from the operator.

If you haven't already, we encourage the public to download the Kitsap Transit Tracker, a FREE mobile app for iPhone and Android smartphones. Riders can see the location of their Kitsap Transit buses and ferries in real time, look up the estimated arrival time at their bus stop and set notifications and alerts. To learn more, CLICK HERE.
