What is Pingo?

Pingo is a safe and easy way for you to share a ride. With the Ride Pingo app, request your ride and the bus will pick you up wherever you are. No need to walk to a bus stop.

It’s as easy as 1-2-3!

  1. Download the Ride Pingo app on the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Enter your details to create a profile.
  3. Request a ride and the bus will come to you. Book future trips as well.

Getting Started

WiFi: Our new WiFi hotspot outside Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal lets you connect, click and pay for BI Ride with the Ride Pingo app.

Download the app for iPhone or for Android. When you first open the app, you’ll want to set up your Profile and Payment method.

How to use the app

Follow along step by step.

Book your ride

  1. Enter your destination.
  2. The app will show the fare and the estimated time of arrival (ETA) (in minutes) for when the bus will arrive at your pickup location. If you’re traveling with others, you can change the number requesting a ride from one to up to 6.
  3. Click the “Request Your Ride” button to book a trip.

TIP: Want to book a ride in advance? Click on “Schedule Trip” and follow the prompts. You can book one or more trips up to seven days in advance. You can view these trips at any time by clicking on “My Trips” in the app menu and making sure “Upcoming” is shaded in the filter at the top of the screen.

TIP: Check out Transit Connect, a Ride Pingo feature for on-demand rides to get you there in time to catch your ferry. Ride with confidence.

Track the bus in real time

Once you’ve requested a ride, the app displays a map showing the real-time location of the bus and the approximate ETA (in minutes) for when the bus will arrive at your pickup location. Follow the bus in the app -- in real time -- as it moves toward your location.

TIP: While you wait, you can send a message to the driver if there’s an issue. Click the “Cancel” button to cancel the ride.

Pay for your ride

Note: Kitsap Transit will not require payment on BI Ride during the initial launch of Pingo app on the service in July.

When you reach your destination, the app will charge your credit card the applicable fare for the ride. You can leave feedback on your experience and rate the ride on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.

If you opted for In-Vehicle Payment when you booked the ride, you’ll pay the bus operator. Kitsap Transit also accepts cash, ORCA and Transit GO Ticket for fare payment.

TIP: You can view your past rides by clicking on “My Trips” in the app menu and making sure “Historical” is shaded in the filter at the top of the screen.

How to Use the Ride Pingo App

Q: How do I redeem a promo code in the Ride Pingo app?

A: You must load the promo code into the app BEFORE booking your trip. You'll click in the app's upper-left corner to open the menu. Select "Promos" and follow the prompts. Watch this video for a step-by-step tutorial.

Q: Why is the app not working on my phone?

A: The app relies on connections to networks to transmit your location and ride request, as well as the location of the bus. Poor network connection can impact Pingo’s performance. Unfortunately the network connection is beyond our control. You can try to turn off Wi-Fi temporarily on your phone; some users have reported issues with the app when Wi-Fi is enabled. If the signal strength indicator on your phone shows a weak mobile network connection, try to move to an area where the phone registers a stronger mobile network signal.
